Not New, But Improved: Cornerstone Got a Facelift

If you've been here before, you may notice things look a little different.

Over the past few weeks, I've been re-entering society after 5 (which felt like 20 between COVID and the ever changing landscape of politics) years in school getting my doctorate in Health Promotion Sciences, dusting things off, reorganizing, re-designing and most importantly reflecting about about I want Cornerstone to look like in this next chapter.

Despite the new look, the foundation hasn't changed. I concept of Cornerstone Conversations (CC) was born almost 10 years ago and finally brought it to life 6 years ago. I created CC around the simple belief: conversation is one of our most powerful tools for learning. Life got busy, CC got quieter on the content side, but its impact remained. I never stopped thinking about it, collecting articles, videos, books, consulting, facilitating workshops, etc.

At the center of the CC are the seven dimensions of health . Health is more than what happens in the doctor's office. It's our community. It's our relationships. It's our thoughts. It's the work we do. It's our environment. It's our beliefs. It's the ways we move, rest, cope and make sense of the world.

When I wrote about Cornerstone in 2020, I acknowledged that all dimensions of health are important. At the time, however, much of Cornerstone's attention was focused on social health.

It was what felt most pressing. In many ways, it was impossible to separate from everything else and still is. Social issues are interwoven into the very fabric of our lives whether we like to think about them or not. They shape where we live, how we work, how we think, the relationships we build, the opportunities available to us, the information we encounter, and even how we experience our own physical and emotional health.

That was true in 2020. It is still true now.

But one of the things I want this next chapter of CC to do better to make those connections visible.

Logistically, the revamped website gives each of those dimensions more room to breathe. You'll find resources ranging from scholarly articles to podcasts to creators whose work I think is worth exploring. Some educational and thought-provoking. Some just interesting and funny that I think should be seen. The goal isn't to tell you exactly what to think. It's to give you something to think about.

So consider this your invitation to explore the not new, but improved Cornerstone Conversations. Click around (maybe on a desktop so you can get the full effect? Millennials know what I'm talking about.). Explore a dimension of health you don't normally think about. Watch something. Read something. Question something. And if there is something that you think should be added send it my way but suggesting a resources here: https://www.cornerstoneconvoswellness.com/resources/suggest-a-resource

This version of Cornerstone is improved, but it is by no mean finished. And if I'm being honest, I don't think I want it to be. After all, it wouldn't be much a conversation if I were the only one talking. So yeah...
