The Middle Way or Middle Path, is the Buddhist doctrine of practical life, avoiding the extremes of self-denial and self-indulgence, and the reality that avoids the extreme positions of eternalism and annihilationism.
Psychedelics are hallucinogens classified as psychoactive drugs
Crack Cocaine and Powder Cocaine are both criminalized. Powder cocaine is snorted, injected or swallowed, while crack cocaine is smoked. The discrepancy lies in the sentencing. Up until the Fair Sentencing Act, “this sentencing disparity was 100 to 1, which means that while just 5 grams of crack would carry a 5-year mandatory minimum, it would take 500 grams of cocaine to trigger the same 5-year sentence. While the law was changed in 2010, there continues to be a disparity of 18 to 1.”
Psilocybin (traditionally referred to as mushrooms) is a Schedule I
Ayahuasca is a plant-based psychedelic tea. It contains the active ingredient dimethyltryptamine (DMT) and is classified as a Schedule I drug.
The Mexican view of death we were referring to was “Día de Muertos”. “El Dia de Los Muertos is a Mexican holiday where families welcome back the souls of their deceased relatives for a brief reunion that includes food, drink and celebration. A blend of Mesoamerican ritual, European religion and Spanish culture, the holiday is celebrated each year from October 31- November 2.”

Catholicism in Boston. While oftentimes referred to as “The Most Catholic City”, in 2002 the Catholic Church was shaken to its core when the Boston Globe broke a story of an investigation that led to the criminal prosecutions of five Roman Catholic priests in a local archdiocese. It was revealed that over the span of two decades that Cardinals of the diocease had covered up more that 130 sexual abuse cases of young boys.
